Defence of the Ancients or as we called it DOTA is a part of Warcraft III. Nevertheless, Warcraft III is not as famous as DOTA. Many gamers are playing DOTA rather than Warcraft III even if you want to play DOTA you must go to the Warcraft III software first. DOTA can be so famous because this game is a free game. The map of DOTA actually is almost same with Starcraft because the maker is same. The maker is Blizzard Entertaiment. Blizzard is not only a maker of Warcraft III but also, Warcraft I, Warcraft II, Starcraft I, Starcraft II,World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft the Burning Crusade, World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King Diablo I, II and III as well.

This game is a five versus five game, it is a strategic game with teamwork and fully concentration to destroy the enemy's structure and guarded own Frozenthrone. This game is not only about attacking offensively but also need to defence our place. We must kill people and creeps to get experience and money to survive and buy items. The game is not about how to earn money, not about how to kill enemy, but this game is more about how to defence and offence the frozenthrone, who destroy the frzonthrone first, they will win the game.
Many people use this game for tournaments. There is the rules depends on the competitions and the refferes.
This game has the rules it self but when the game is used for tournaments, the refferes usually make their own rules about the game.

This game only has three lanes of a map. There is two corners which called sentinel and scourage. There will be creeps keep spawning on the three lanes. The creep will help the heroes to have experience. Normally a team is five players, with each player has to control his own hero. The hero of DOTA is devided by three types, that is strength hero, agility hero and intelligent hero.
There is many items to buy by the heroes, but not all of items can be used by every hero, each hero has his suitable items. So players need to know what item is that.
